Even in an economic downtown, there are businesses made for hard times.
As consumers attempt to pinch their pennies, many have began trading at local consignment shops and repairing shoes and altering clothing instead of casting them off for new ones.
Cheryl Johnson, owner of C Johnson Custom Clothing along Music Row, said she’s seeing a increased trend of people shopping their closets. While 20-somethings still bring $250 jeans in for altering, those in their 30s and beyond, want to update clothing they already own.
“It’s one of the things you look forward to in our business as the economy starts to slow down,” she said.
